What is one word that describes a great wine?
I think many people would say balance.
And that's what his [Langworthy's] wines have
Growing up in Margaret River, Julian was immersed in the vineyards and wineries of the region from a young age. His career took him across the globe, with vintages in France and Canada, before heading to South Australia to take up senior winemaking roles in the Barossa, Clare Valley and Coonawarra. Julian’s passion for creating regionally distinctive wines led him back to Margaret River and to Deep Woods eight years ago, in the heart of the region he describes as “winemaking nirvana”. Julian describes being selected as James Halliday’s 2019 Winemaker of the Year as “a huge thrill and a huge honour."
Deep Woods are thrilled to retain their 'Five Red Star' winery rating in the Halliday Wine Companion 2019, placing them in the top 8% of wineries nationally. This rating is based on the fabulous quality of the wines produced, with six wines from the range rated as 'Outstanding' including the ever-popular 2017 Estate Rosé and the delicious 2016 Reserve Chardonnay rated as 'Exceptional' with 97 points.
Across the group, we've collected a fantastic collection of outstanding scores in the Halliday Wine Companion 2019.
