Trophy for Best Shiraz Blend at the National Wine Show of Australia

Trophy for Best Shiraz Blend at the National Wine Show of Australia

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our 2020 Deep Woods Estate Shiraz et al has won Top Gold and the Trophy for Best Shiraz Blend at the recent National Wine Show of Australia. In addition to this, we also received another three gold medals.

Following on from a two-year break, the NWSA has reestablished itself as the most prestigious wine show in Australia, with over 890 of the country’s best wines judged by some of Australia’s most qualified wine critics.

These recent accolades add to the already highly awarded winery, with an outstanding 19 Trophies and 56 Gold Medals being awarded across the Deep Woods range since 2016, including one of Australia’s most prestigious wine show awards – the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy.

Deep Woods Chief Winemaker and Winemaker of the Year 2019 Julian Langworthy reflected on these incredible awards and said:

“It is an amazing achievement to receive, especially at the national wine show, which is now one of the biggest on the calendar. This accolade just shows how exceptional Margaret River Shiraz blends can be.

The 2020 vintage was a delicious Shiraz vintage in Margaret River. Great warmth, and some solid rainfall events, all resulted in some amazing fine tannins. The addition of Malbec gives it that x-factor, the underpants on the outside superhero style. Lowly high notes of blue fruits with a floral violet lift. It's spicy and at the same time refreshing, smooth with silky tannins. Massively drinkable.

I absolutely love this wine; it has become very popular and is so well received."
