The 2020 Single Vineyard 'G2' Cabernet Sauvignon is the first ever release of this exceptional wine and we now only have 20 six-packs remaining to purchase online.
Highly reviewed by James Suckling with 96 points and awarded four trophies for Best Cabernet Sauvignon, Wine of Show, Red Wine of Show and Best Single Vineyard Wine at the Marget River Wine Show 2022, as well as a trophy for Best Cabernet Sauvignon at the WA Single Vineyard Wine Show 2022, this is a wine which represents the very best of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fruit was sourced from Block 'G2' on the unique Gibb Road Vineyard, located in the Treeton subregion in eastern Margaret River. On the stylistic differences seen with wines from the more inland part of the region, Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy said:
"A tour de force on its first release. This is a super special wine – the first ever release of our 'G2' Cabernet Sauvignon, with fruit sourced from the unique Gibb Road Vineyard, Block 'G2'. This block is a relatively steep west facing slope, with deep ironstone rich gravels.
"The Gibb Road Vineyard is an anomaly for Deep Woods Estate because it isn’t in the Yallingup Hills – it is instead part of the Treeton sub-region, in eastern Margaret River. This is a cooler, later ripening site and produces Cabernet Sauvignon fruit with the highest natural acidity that we have ever seen brought into the winery.
"This wine is stylistically different to our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon [sold out]. Our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is all about silky tannin and ripe, dark plums, whereas the Single Vineyard 'G2' Cabernet Sauvignon is more akin to crunchy red fruit, with ripe herbaceous aromas of bay leaf and sage. Awarded four Trophies at the Margaret River Wine Show 2022, this is a unique, delicious and award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon. A wine for the decades."
This Single Vineyard wine has epic colour; it is inky dark with bright crimson and purple hues. The nose is bursting with crunchy redcurrants, lifted cassis and ripe bay leaf aromas.
Zesty red fruits, bay leaf and sage reflect the cooler, later ripening vineyard site. The palate is powerful and structured with stunning fine-grained tannins. It’s defining feature is its beautiful fine-boned nature and a live, linear palate providing a crunchy, fresh, long and rewarding finish.

Reviews
"A deep and dark centre palate of crushed blackcurrants, spices and walnuts. Medium to full body, creamy tannins and a stone, oyster shell and iodine undertone to the composed fruit finish. Really dark fruit in the centre palate. Solid Cabernet Sauvignon."
