by Phillipa Brine
A score of 98 points and a 'Best in Class' were the highlights from the 2017 Halliday Wine Companion.
The 2013 Deep Woods Grand Selection Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon scored an outstanding 98 points and was selected as a wine to be presented at the awards ceremony. Not to be outdone, the 2015 Deep Woods Estate Rosé scored 96 points and was deemed the No 1 Rosé in Australia.
The Fogarty Wine Group (FWG) had 31 wines awarded 90 or more points in this year’s Wine Companion including:
one wine at 98 points
three wines at 97 points
two wines at 96 points
five wines at 95 points
six wines at 94 points.
Stephen Bradshaw, Group Sales & Marketing Manager, said: “This is an excellent result for the Fogarty Wine Group and comes on the back of significant successes at other recent domestic and international wine shows, including a Trophy at the 2016 Royal Queensland Wine Show for the 2014 Deep Woods Estate Cabernet Merlot. It is particularly pleasing to see these outstanding results across the wineries and for a range of varieties. These scores are recognition of the commitment and hard work by our viticultural and winemaking teams over many years.”
