From a line up of more than 650 red wines from across the country, Ray Jordan placed two Deep Woods Estate wines in his Top 100 Reds 2017, naming the 2015 Estate Shiraz et al as 'The Best' wine in the $15 to $20 category. Also featured was the 2015 Ebony Cabernet Shiraz, which Ray praised for its "consistent value for money" and "good fruit intensity and structure".
Ray was enthusiastic in his praise for the 2015 Estate Shiraz et al:
"This gives the traditional Rhône blend a little tweak using Malbec instead of Mourvèdre...It works so beautifully well and it still amazes me that this sells for around the $20 mark. Generous and fruity with loads of toasty, chocolate influences. A little sprinkle of spices adds a finishing lift." 93/100
