Deep Woods Estate Wins Stodart Trophy at Royal Queensland Wine Show

The Fogarty Wine Group is pleased to announce that the 2015 Deep Woods Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot was awarded three trophies comprising the Stodart Trophy for Best Young Red of Show, the RNA Trophy for Best Red of Show and the Alan Cook MBE Trophy for Best Cabernet Blend at the 2017 Royal Queensland Wine Show.

Chief Judge at the show David Bicknell said: “This is an exceptional, classic wine… We just couldn’t go past this wine – most of the judges voted for it as their first preference.”

It was noted by the Royal Queensland Wine Show that this was the first Cabernet Merlot in recent memory to win the trophy, with Shiraz usually dominating the awards.

Deep Woods Estate was also awarded four Gold Medals – see awards below.

Group Sales & Marketing Manager Stephen Bradshaw was delighted at the result and praised the fastidious work of Deep Woods Estate Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy, and FWG Chief Viticulturist John Fogarty. “As the first major show of the year, the results at Royal Queensland are indicative of another release of exceptional quality wines and testament to the hard work of all involved in their creation.”
